Article created: Feb 04 2013, updated: Jun 05 2013

Background:  Clients moving from Intersection Magic to the Crash Magic Online will need to export and upload their current Intersection Magic database

Status:  Info - "how to" article

Categories:   *Configuration* *Article - fact* *Article - references*

Explanation:

This article was created for clients that are moving to Crash Magic hosted by Pd' Programming, and need to upload their existing Intersection Magic data. In preparation for the move to Crash Magic the Imw2Xml program was created. This program creates two XML files. One file will contain the collisions records and the other file will contain the Intersection Magic configuration.

This article will cover using the Imw2Xml program, creating files with the program and uploading these files to the Pd Magic web site.

Solution:

NOTE: This process is for sending a single configuration and database to Pd' Programming. If multiple databases are kept under one configuration, the databases will need to be merged for export. See our article on How to merge Intersection Magic databases. Clients should also remove any bad dates(00/00/0000) from the database, correct any invalid times and ensure the street names have been corrected before export.

There are several tasks in sending your information to Pd' Programming. The following steps should be performed from the computer or virtual PC that is running Intersection Magic.

Set the Intersection Magic directory and database for export

  1. Open Intersection Magic with the database that you would like to send
  2. Close Intersection Magic( This will set the program to export the configuration and database that was just opened )

  2. Click the process button(Ensure that the "Include deleted database records" is not checked)
  3. Select or create a folder to store the XML files
  4. Click the save button to start processing the records( Records with a bad date or time will display a message that the date or time is not recognized. Click the OK button to continue.  These records will not be imported.
  5. Click the OK button when the export is complete
  6. Click the  Red X button to close the program

Open the Upload Files page on the Pd Magic web site
