The default behavior for Crash Magic Online is to use cookies for tracking each user session. When the Crash Magic web site is opened a cookie is provided to the browser to identify the session. The browser then sends back this cookie to Crash Magic to identify the session. If Crash Magic cannot send or receive cookies the error message that Cookies are not enabled is displayed.

Cookies can be blocked by the network being used or more commonly the web browser. This article will discuss how to check your settings in Internet Explorer 8 for your cookie settings.


Internet Explorer 8 allows users to set privacy settings that block cookies by type and from  specific web sites. There are three items that should be checked for blocked cookies. Privacy settings can be set to block cookies by default. Cookies can be blocked in the advanced settings of IE 8 and specific web sites can be set to block cookies. All three areas should be checked to ensure that Crash Magic Online cookies are not blocked. Users should consult with their IT department to determine the recommended settings to enable cookies for their organization.

Here is how to check the privacy settings in IE 8.

  1. Open Internet Explorer 8
  2. Click on the tools button
  3. Select Internet Options
  4. Click on the Privacy tab
  5. Check the slider bar
  6. A setting of High or Block all cookies will cause the Cookies not enabled error

 Check that all cookies have not been blocked in the advanced section

  1. Ensure that the Internet Options window open in Internet Explorer
  2. Click on the Privacy tab
  3. Click the Advanced button
  4. Ensure that "Override automatic cookie handling" is not checked

Check that all cookies have not been blocked at the site level.

  4. Ensure that the Crash Magic web site is not listed in the Managed websites with a setting of "Always Block"

Most policies regarding privacy settings are established by the IT department. Users should consult with their IT group for recommended policies on enabling cookies before making changes to Internet Explorer.
