Explanation:

Crash Magic installations require database drivers and settings for the program to function correctly. When upgrading a database that is in use by Crash Magic Online the program and the server where it resides may need to be updated to function correctly. Crash Magic uses at least two database connections. One connection connects to the crash data. These are the collision database records. The second connection is to the system tables. System table store user data, and the configuration map to the crash data.  This article covers the change needed  by Crash Magic for a successful upgrade.

Solution:

This article assumes Crash Magic is functioning correctly and no changes have been made to the structure of the Crash Magic system tables and the structure of the collision database tables.

Once the database has been upgraded, there are three items that Crash Magic requires for a database upgrade. The new database drivers must be install on the Crash Magic server. The system tables connection must be updated, and the last item is to update the connections to the crash data.

Update the database drivers:

Depending on the database older clients may be backwards compatible with newer databases. Clients should consult their specific database documentation for upgrading their database drivers.  Follow the instructions with your specific database to upgrade the drivers on the Crash Magic server. If new database drivers may require new database the connection strings.

If needed update the Crash Magic Online connection to the system tables:
